The Peugeot Citroen RT6 unit, also known as the eMyWay, RNEG2, or WIPNAV+, is a popular infotainment system used in various Peugeot and Citroen models. However, many users have reported several common problems with these units:
- Rebooting Issues: One of the most frequently encountered problems is the unit getting stuck in a reboot cycle. This issue often requires a firmware update, which can be complex as it involves partitioning and loading the software onto the internal SD card.
- SD Card Failures: The internal SD card in the RT6 unit can fail over time, leading to unresponsiveness or slow performance. Replacing the SD card can sometimes resolve these issues, but it requires reloading the system software.
A work plan:
- Perform a backup (optional)
- Copy the RT6 v2.86.B-R1 firmware (CD_RT6_CAN2010_SW_2.86.zip) to a USB flash drive (the flash drive should be in FAT32 file system; I recommend formatting it using the fat32format.exe console utility)
- Perform the firmware update (the process takes 25 minutes)
- Copy RT6 Settings v1.04 to a USB flash drive
- Disable the map digital signature verification, set MAPS DRM=0
- Update the Europe + Russia maps to the latest available version (Russia from 18.01.2016, disk label 2015/2016 2ed)
- Update the radars and risk zones (RADARS_RUSSIA_UKRAINE_BALT, update from 09.10.2016)
